The Institute of Applied Science and Technology is an industrial research organisation with a mandate to develop and/or adapt appropriate technology for the utilisation of Guyana’s natural resources, so that these resources can be developed and utilised effectively for the benefit of the people of Guyana. The Institute was formed in 1977.
The Institute (IAST) offers a full range of environmental, water, metals, and toxicity testing. In addition, IAST has extensive wet chemistry laboratories, as well as state-of-the-art instrumentation and equipment capable of analysing numerous molecular, thermomechanical, and physical properties.
Our long term goal is to generate 70% of our funding from the private sector, through the provision of research, technology transfer and analytical services.
